The most common type of soft lead found in a scrapyard comes from roofing applications, wheel lead weights, and batteries. 

Clean lead will have no foreign materials mixed in or attached and can be in the form of small little shredded pieces, lead sheets, roofing strips and shingles.  

Dirty lead will have foreign materials attached or mixed in such as, iron, aluminum, brass, copper, and more. 

Most common dirty lead is ingots, lead battery connectors, bullets, and old lead piping . 

Magnesium is a shiny gray metal having a low density, low melting point and high chemical reactivity. 

It is less dense than aluminum and is used primarily as a component in strong and lightweight alloys that contain aluminum.

Zinc is bluish-white in color and is naturally resistant to corrosion, making it popular in applications where that is a concern. 

Zinc is used in a wide variety of applications such as galvanization, marine industry, automotive industry, medical devices, and zinc metal compounds.

Zinc die casting applications can consist of interior automotive aesthetic parts, engine and other  under-the-hood components, power steering systems, brake parts and systems, air-conditioning components and systems, fuel systems, complex net-shaped housings, and electronic devices.
